Victrix head of design, Steve, has just sent the following renders of the first figure for the Roman Auxiliaries. He also sent me the text, many thanks Steve.

He did mention that any similarity in the face of this first auxiliary figure to well known actor Charles Bronson is purely accidental.

"Here are the first renders of the Roman Auxiliary infantry.

As you can see there will be advancing with upright spear, spear resting against shoulder marching, underarm, over-arm and sword drawn. There will be variants of these for the set that can all be intermixed. There will also be arms holding the Gaesum which was an all iron shaft with more of a barbed head more like the Pilum.

More head variants with and without moustache and helmets with reinforcement bands for the Dacian wars plus some wolf-skin head dress helmets.

There will be the oval shield and also a rectangular scutum to represent the legionary Light infantry.

So plenty of variety to make them a very flexible and interesting set of miniatures."

The figure is illustrating the option of wearing wolf skin headdress and cape. There are a few units depicted on Trajans column wearing this garb. They could possibly be the Legionary light troops and act very much like the earlier Republican Roman Velites or simply be the mark of some special bravery distinction or nationality.

There will be enough of these Wolf skins to equip a unit of 24 alongside all the other head options in the set.
